WitrynaGonochorism and hermaphroditism as well as viviparity, oviparity, and ovoviparity occur in sponges. The data on the sex phenotype have been obtained mainly from Demospongiae (Table 1). However, it was demonstrated that oviparous sponges are chiefly gonochoric, but viviparous (brooding) sponges chiefly are hermaphrodites.
