WebI think its caused by moisture getting between the slides and sealing them. I've gotten some to unstick by spraying the stack with 70% ethanol and sliding them apart slowly. I don't know if coated slides take extra consideration. I worked in a facility that mass produced microscope slides and I can confirm that is is caused by humidity/moisture.
